Public Talk: Priceless Stability – The Meditation Path
Thursday 10th of January, 7.30pm
Venue: Hodgkin Hall, The Friends School, access via Carr Street, North Hobart

Life is constantly in a state of flux and change. We never know what is just around the corner. We often lose ourselves in the busyness of our lives and focus on a false solidity of who we are and how our lives should be. This can create uncertainty and instability that gives rise to restless thoughts and emotions. But when we take the time to look deeply, we can discover our innate peaceful nature, which is beyond our thoughts, concepts and emotions. In Buddhism this innate peaceful nature affords us a stability that is unaffected by outer circumstance and helps us to deal with life’s difficulties with dignity and compassion. The inward journey to reveal this priceless stability is called the path of meditation. In these teachings, Khandro-la will introduce us to meditation methods that help us to stop for a moment and surrender to deeper truths. From this ground of priceless stability we develop the strength to break the cycle of everyday reactive habits and live joyfully and courageously with whatever life challenges we are facing.

The Journey Inward: A Four Week Course with Khandro Thrinlay Chodon

In our busy lives we seldom stop and look within. We lose ourselves in business and forget our interconnectedness to everything around. Meditation trains us to stop for a moment and look deeply. This calms our mind to notice the true depth and beauty within. From this ground we develop strength to break the cycle of everyday reactive habits and live joyfully and courageously in dealing with life's sufferings. In this four-week course Khandro Rinpoche will provide us with a thorough introduction on the basic ground for meditation.

Weekend Retreat: Buddha of Compassion – Chenrezig Empowerment and Teaching of Shakya Shri’s Mind Terma
Friday 25th, 7.30pm Introduction; Saturday & Sunday 26 & 27th of January 9.30-4pm
Venue: Fern Tree Community Centre, 8 Stephenson Place, Fern Tree

Shakya Shri (1853-1919) was an accomplished master of the Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions. He was recognized as one of the 25 accomplished disciples of Guru Padmasambhava, and is the great grandfather of Khandro Rinpoche. This Mind Terma was directly transmitted from Guru Padmasambhava to Shakya Shri during meditation, flowing spontaneously from his mind. Such a direct and profound teaching on compassion is very relevant in this chaotic time. Khandro Rinpoche will bestow the empowerment for this special practice and in addition teach on its meaning.

Public Talk on “Feminine Principle”
Saturday 9th February 2013
Time: 7.30pm to 9.00pm
Venue: Buddhist Society of Victoria, 71-73 Darling Road, East Malvern, 3145

Within the Vajrayana tradition of Buddhism, the feminine principle has a specific meaning, which unveils to us her presence at the heart of everything. She is revered and respected by practitioners as the spacious quality of mind itself, and through deep practice, her truth unfolds unceasingly. Subtle, mystifying, intriguing, nurturing and pervasive, she is actually beyond gender and is dynamic.

Khandro Rinpoche will share with us the meaning of the feminine principle in her spiritual tradition. She will speak both from the heart of her practice, as well as from her personal experience.
